On Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 3:51 a.m. Cottage Police responded to the 1200 block of N Windsor in the Village for a report of a armed robbery. Two men forcefully entered the victims’ home demanding money. One of the male suspects hit one of the victims in the head with a handgun. The victim was injured, but refused any medical attention. The men got away with undisclosed amount of cash. The men also stole a vehicle parked in the driveway of the victims’ home. The vehicle was found abandon on Interstate 94 eastbound, by the Wisconsin State Patrol and Dane County Sheriff’s Office. The Sun Prairie Police K-9 performed a track from the stolen vehicle. Police state the suspects likely were picked up by another vehicle on the Interstate.
The male suspects are described as two black men. One of the suspects was described as being approximately six feet tall, with a husky build. The other suspect was described as being shorter and having a lighter complexion than his accomplice. Both were described as wearing dark clothing, with hoodie type jackets and a ski masks.
Cottage Grove Police Chief Chris Hughes states though the community needs to remain vigilant, it appears this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the community.
